I am not in the office at the moment ...

Funny story on the BBC site:
When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed. Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated".
Another cool street style spotter: Facehunter. He's got a few shots of Melbourne Cup fashion, there are more here at The Age.

Leonard Cohen is coming ... in January 09. Pure perfection.

Went to the Tony Hadley (lead singer of Spandau Ballet) and Paul Young concert on Monday night at the James Hay Theatre, Christchurch. Bloody good show and showmanship. Young even did a tasty version of "Love will tear us apart".

Another fabulous Threadless t I am in deep amour with. Time travel's always going to push my buttons.

Good news - Battlestar Galactica season 4 set to be released in NZ in December.

Still the best podcast out there - The Guardian Music Weekly. Last week's was particularly wonderful ... Tony Christie on the making of his album "This is Sheffield".

Bands and musicians from Sheffield - it's an astonishing lineup. ABC, Human League, Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, hey Joe AND Jarvis Cocker.

Must be on a bit of a Sheffield kick, as am also enjoying the stonking novel set in that city - The Northern Clemency. It's got the meatiness and substance of a big Victorian novel.

Did you get a ticket to Leonard? I only just found out about it a few days ago, and they all sold out immediately. I have someone working on a ticket for me, but as I haven't heard from them yet I'm feeling a bit panicked. I have been a fan of his since i was 16 years old and I found my Mum's records and listened to Suzanne... and the Straitjacket Fits did a cover of So Long Marianne.

No alas, was too busy pondering if I'd be too pregnant to fly or have long car trip and missed getting a ticket.

My friend saw him in concert in Denmark earlier in the year, and was practically touching the hem of his garmnent.

Good luck, hope you get to go! I will be giving my baby Cohen as a middle name (it's my grandma's family name too).
