Big Ass Bunnies, Superheroes, Street Style et cetera

This lovely big fellow is quite a star, and has a slightly smaller buddy inside. There are two great exhibitions on at the Christchurch Art Gallery.
Reboot: The Jim Barr and Mary Barr Collection, 17 March - 1 July 2007, has some quirky and delicious pieces. Standouts are Ronnie van Hout's work and Eileen Leung who has some mysterious pieces fill of colour at once soft and luminous. Check out the little animation on the page for a preview.

Toi Maori: The Eternal Thread exhibition is also stunning. Weaving - cloaks, bags, sculptures, and some large portraits.

A great new blog to amuse the fashionistas and street style aficianados THIRD BEST. Here's a sexy little teaser for it.

SUPERHEROES

Now for some SUPERHERO stuff. In course of researching a feature on superheroes I did a bit of discovery work and unearthed some treasures:

DULCE PINZON
- This project consists of 20 colour photos of Mexican immigrants dressed in the costumes of popular American and Mexican superheroes. Each photo pictures the worker/superhero in their work environment, and is accompanied by a short text including the worker’s name, their hometown in Mexico, the number of years they have been working in New York, and the amount of money they send to Mexico each week. Beautiful.

And this list of THE TOP 10 LAME SUPERHEROES is a joy. Is it true? was there really a superhero called "Arm Fall Off Boy" who beat up baddies with his detachable arm?

Speaking of superheroes - I missed out a whole lot of questions first time so was peeved to be the Green Gussetted Robin. Ick. So happy now to be Spidey!

Which superhero are you?

Your results: You are Spider-Man
Spider-Man 85%
The Flash 75%
Robin 73%
Wonder Woman 68%
Superman 65%
Green Lantern 65%
Supergirl 58%

Catwoman 40%

You are intelligent, witty, a bit geeky and have great power and responsibility.

And if you want to create your own superhero from scratch - get thee to the Hero Machine. Here's two of mine - "Radioactive Kebabette" and "Chips Ahoy".

and by the by congratulations to Kimi Raikkonen for his win at the Melbourne Grand Prix.

Ooh, I'm Spiderman as well! He's my favourite superhero.

I'm off to see Spiderman 3 for a second time this afternoon.
